The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Award nominations for 2012 are out and sees an outstanding amount of nominees who deserve an accolade.

British songstress Adele is up for two of the awards for Outstanding Song and Outstanding Music Video for her hit “Someone Like You,” and among the nominations this year are Bruno Mars, Kirk Franklin, Cee Lo Green, Beyonce, The Roots, Boyz II Men, Lupe Fiasco, Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Ledisi, Mary J Blige, Jill Scott, George Benson and Sounds of Blackness.

Young rapper Diggy Simmons is up for the Outstanding New Artist as well as R&B boy group Mindless Behaviour, whilst emcee/actor Common also sees a nomination for Outstanding Male Artist and Chris Brown is up for Outstanding Album for his last studio album F.A.M.E. The NAACP Image Awards are broadcast on Feb. 17 at 8PM EST on NBC.

RIHANNA, KERI HILSON, & BRUNO MARS TO PERFORM AT NBA ALL-STAR GAME

The Black Eyed Peas, Usher, and Slash held it down during the Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show, and now, the NBA is getting its own star wattage. Keri Hilson and Bruno Mars have been tapped to perform on the magenta carpet during the NBA All-Star pre-game show, while Rihanna will take the stage at halftime.

The “Grenade” singer will link up with Miss Keri at the players showcase, set to be hosted by Nick Cannon from Los Angeles’ Staples Center. Meanwhile, RiRi shared her excitement in celebrating her 23rd birthday by holding it down as the sole halftime performer. “YES!! I get the entire halftime show @ NBA All-Star Weekend,” tweeted the Bajan beauty.

The 2011 NBA All-Star Game will air live on Sunday, February 20, on TNT.

Bruno Mars Cuts Deal in Cocaine Case

Bruno Mars has dodged a grenade. The Hawaiian-born singer, who was arrested on cocaine possession last September at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, has worked out a deal with the Clark County District Attorney’s Office where he won’t have a conviction charge on his permanent record.

As part of the deal, the seven-time Grammy nominee has agreed to a “deferred adjudication,” meaning that as long as he has a clean slate over the next 12 months and performs 200 hours of community service, the charge will be dropped and entirely swept under the rug. He will also have to undergo private counseling.

The hitmaker was taken into custody in the early hours of the morning at the Vegas hotel after security officials confronted him in the bathroom and found narcotics on his person. He was arrested and released hours later.
